Praise for
Baseball in the Cross Timbers
I received the
book, and I want you to know I think it's outstanding.
Great Job.
"If you are a
baseball fan, let me highly recommend that you purchase a copy of
"Baseball in the Cross Timbers" by Peter G. Pierce. The book
is about minor league baseball in the Sooner State League, which
operated for 11 seasons between 1947 and 1957.
I was thoroughly
impressed with the quality of the hardback book and its content.
It contains 365 glossy pages along with 300 photos and
illustrations, and an abundance of baseball statistics.

I will say,
unequivocally, that it is the finest book I've ever seen on Class D
baseball... Pierce's book is a classic. It is a large hard
cover book, including dust jacket. It has color every place
color is possible. The color added a great deal, but the
stories of the history of the league are priceless. I can
recommend it to every fan of minor league baseball from the mid-part
of the 20th century. It is a great book.
Order yourself a
copy of the book and if you don't have the money right now I think
it is good enough that you could probably convince your congressman
or senator to get it for you through the stimulus package.

WOW! I expected
nothing like the book you've produced. what a beautiful piece
of work. I'd love to do something like this on the Big State
League someday. It's really one of the best regional books
I've ever seen. Congratulations.

Thanks so
much for a great book--the Story of the Sooner State League.
It's truly a pleasure to read about and recalling memories when
playing for the McAlester Rockets in '49 &'50. Your book is a
treasure to me and [my wife] and our children.

What a wonderful piece of
work. It is obvious that you have done a tremendous amount of
research to put together this great piece of history in minor league
baseball. I do not know of any other book or history piece
concerning the Sooner State League, and because I share your love of
this subject, I am so very proud of what you have done. Many
thanks.

Congratulations on your
achievement of the Cross Timbers book on the Sooner State
League. I learned so much from reading it. As a batboy
for the Herefords, I thought I knew everything about the league, but
I was wrong. What a unique piece of sports history in our
State.
